Mackey Marianist Lectures:
Catholicism in Prophetic Dialogue
The Mackey Marianist Lectures are named after the late Fr. Robert Mackey, S.M., one of the founders and the first president of Chaminade University. Fr. Mackey dedicated his life to using his Christian and Marianist principles to making the world a better place for all -- especially for the poor and the marginalized. As a way of keeping that spirit alive the three institutions on the Kalaepohaku Campus (The Marianist Center of Hawai'i, Chaminade University and St. Louis School) jointly sponsor this lecture series. All of the lectures are free and are usually held on a Sunday afternoon in Mystical Rose Oratory at 4p.m. each academic semester.
This year the Marianists are celebrating 125 years of continuous presence in Hawai'i. In honor of this special anniversary, the organizing committe has invited 3 distinguished Marians to make a presentation on "A Marian Model of Church." This model is above all a family of disciples, gathered together, with respect for each one's gift and each one's needs, around the Mother of God. Like Mary, we emphasize the role of nurturing life, forming, affirming, and creating unity, much more than judging and condemning.

The distinguished Marianists are Bro. Jack Ventura, Isabella Moyer and Carol Ramey. Click on their photos for information about each of them.

They will have the lecture in Mystical Rose Oratory (campus chapel) on the Saint Louis School/Chaminade University Campus at 4pm on Sunday, September 28, 2008. The lecture is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed. Seating will be on a first-come first-serve basis.
